Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family, on January 24, 2026 at the age of 73. Reunited with his loving wife Darlene, whom he called “Dee.” Loved father of Kari (Brandon), Stacey (Stephen), Kyla (Bill), and Nathan. Proud Pop of Kendra, Tayler, Mya, Calee, Erika, Billy, Julian, and Cloe; Pop Pop of Thalia. Dearly missed by Dee’s family, who were always a part of his life. Red is predeceased by his parents and siblings.
Red loved fishing and often vacationed up North at Birch Lake. He enjoyed playing horseshoes (and always won!) and darts, and all the family reunions. He lived life simply, but loved his family and the joy they brought him.
Visitation will be held at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road, Cambridge) on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow, as were his wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
