She acquired her angel wings after a stoic and courageous, five-year battle with cancer. Leah passed surrounded by family and in the arms of the those who loved her. We have no doubts that she was met with open arms on the ‘other side’ by her adoring father-in-law Tom and grandparents Pearl, Albert & Konstantyn.
Leah was a bright light in our family, strong, caring and intuitive with a witty sense of humour. Always together, she and Kolbey (her identical twin) enjoyed creative pursuits. Both attained BAs in Geography and Education from Wilfrid Laurier & Nipissing Universities and became primary school teachers. Leah enjoyed travelling with her beloved husband Greg, spending time with her cherished nephew Hudson and niece Jordyn and her precious French bulldogs Sadie & Hugo. She had a great appreciation for nature, which was often captured with her photographic talents. Leah was born in Cambridge, Ontario, in 1984 and graduated from Preston High School.
Our dear Leah is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her devoted husband Greg Lee and her fur-baby Sadie, who were forever by her side; her parents Brian & Roza Cunningham, her sisters Kolbey Rank (Jody), and Karley Cunningham (Elise Le Brun). She is survived by grandmothers Anastazia Wynnychenko & Mary Ward, aunts Elizabeth Wilton, Sandra Lee & Sandra Wilton (Paul), mother-in-law Carolyn Marchand (Yves), sister-in-law Marnie Lee. She was predeceased by her grandparents Albert & Pearl Cunningham (née Goad), grandfather Konstantyn and father-in-law Thomas Lee.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to her medical team of Dr. Stacey Hubay, Dr. Kuk and staff at Grand River Cancer Centre, Dr. Monika Krzyzanowska, and Dr. Andrew Hope at Princess Margaret Hospital. As well as, all the friends, family, and colleagues who supported Leah throughout her courageous journey.
As per Leah’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Conestoga Golf and Conference Centre.
Leah’s greatest, last wish was to establish an education trust fund for both Hudson & Jordyn (her nephew and niece) who meant the world to her, in place of flowers or memorial donations. If you would like to contribute to Leah’s legacy, donations can be made here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/leahcunningham-legacy
Leah also expressed that if you wish to make a memorial donation that it be made to CNets Canada to support finding a cure for the rare form of cancer that she battled: https://cnetscanada.org/support-us/donations/
