It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Dillon Winters on November 5, 2015 at the age of 89. Margaret was born on April 19, 1926 in Glasgow, Scotland, and came to Canada in 1973. She was an active member of the Bethel Tabernacle in Cambridge, where she worshipped several days a week. Margaret was a Salvation Army volunteer for many years and passionate about her missionary work in Haiti. She was a wonderful singer, a great cook, and an avid bargain hunter. She also loved to travel and was known as a legendary walker, often referring to long-distance destinations as “just around the corner.” Margaret was brimming with positivity and would say “That’s lovely” about almost everything. She will be dearly missed by her four children Margaret, Sandra (Pat), Patricia (Ron), and Michael (Patricia). She is also survived by her sister Anna, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Margaret, and Michael Winters, her husband of 50 years. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 9th at Bethel Tabernacle, 1655 Queenston Road, Cambridge from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. A celebration of her life will take place afterward in the church at 11:30 am. Burial to follow at Mount View Cemetery. Please join the family directly afterwards at the church for the reception. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated and can be made through Barthel Funeral Home (519) 653-3251. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Fairview Mennonite Home for going above and beyond with their exceptional care.
