Nancy was an incredibly spiritual person, and her religious beliefs helped her through her illness immensely. Nancy was also analytical both in her vocation and her very nature. Nancy's most cherished gifts were cross stitching beautiful portraits, playing the piano at home and the organ for her church, designing and knitting sweaters for the grandchildren and in her earlier years she enjoyed being a Girl Guide leader. Nancy’s love of gardening and entertaining went hand in hand as she developed a beautiful oasis for friends and family to visit and enjoy together around her pool in her backyard where everyone was welcome. Nancy often reminisced about her time at her and George's cottage on Lake Huron, where she spent some of her most memorable years with family and friends. Above all, she loved her family unconditionally. To her, forgiveness was a gift and happiness was the most important thing in life. Nancy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children Cathy Zalischuk (Terry), Mark Clawsey, Rob Mezger (Marlyn), and Heidi Wood (Keith), grandchildren Amie, Kris, Brad, Ashton, Dylan, Brinly and Lucas, great-grandchildren Karisma, Chloe, Ian, Emma, Tessa, Abbigail and Harper, her brother Paul Debrusk (Marilyn), and her first husband Ron Clawsey. She was predeceased by her oldest son John Clawsey, her husband George Mezger, and her brother Peter Debrusk. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Nancy’s long-time personal caretaker Paulami for all the walks, activities, smiles, and comfort she provided her. We would also like to thank all the staff members and caretakers at Sunrise of Oakville for the exceptional care and support provided to her and a heartfelt thanks for all the kind words, stories, and tears they shed as they shared stories from her time there. They became like family to her, and we are forever thankful. Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Parklawn Cemetery, 740 Fountain St. N. in Cambridge, Ontario on Saturday, September 25th at 2:00 pm.
