So sorry we have missed you in sharing our condolences since Aunt Jean's passing. She would indicate with some satisfaction she was ready to go this last little while but that certainly doesn't make it any easier.  
I had so enjoyed her company, her seemingly impromptu visits when back to St. John's and phone calls when she moved and only wish I was a better hand at cards after her lovely dinners while she was still at L'Anse aux Meadows Cres. We did exchange some lovely letters. She was exceptional in her willingness and capacity to communicate and keep contacts. 
I don't have an address for you so please let us know when the service will held in St. John's.

Aunt Jean was a great lady, always kind to Mom and myself, and my "last connection" to my own Mother.  You will miss her, but I hope your memories will focus on the funny, happy times you enjoyed with her.  She was a great lady. 
My condolences to your family, and know that many other people will miss her also.  I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts.

So sorry to hear of your mothers passing. My mom Pauline Moores was a close friend of Jean's. They spend many fun times together and Mom always enjoyed speaking to her on the phone after she moved away. They were great company for each other. Unfortunately my mom also passed away on Oct. 16, 2012 but I know she would have wanted me to express her condolences to you and your family. I met Mrs Butler a number of times and she was indeed a very special person. We enjoyed many baked goods compliments of your mom and our daughter just loved her ginger snaps! They were her favourites! Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Paula & Jeannine;  I was so sorry to hear of your moms passing, "Aunt Jean" was a very special lady.  I have many memories of meals at your home in St. John's and your mom always feeding me homemade rolls right out of the oven.  Since moving to Ontairo every year I received a birthday card from her and always with a hand written note enclosed.  Our parents had been friends for many years and your mom was the last of that "gang". I am sure you both have many happy memories to carry your through this sad time. Thinking of you and your families.

I have known Jean since the 1970's. We have been friends for years.  I wish to send my deepest condolences to her daughters and their families. We were sad to hear of Mrs. Butler's passing. She lived a rich and full life, made so many friends and was a real friend to so many. Our visits to her were always uplifting to us! Her baking was legendary - that well equipped basement kitchen  (her BAKING kitchen) on Greenwood Cres delighted many - us included. Her capacity to deal with change was amazing. Paula & Jeannine, As I read about your Mother's passing today, some wonderful memories of her  & you came to mind.How could one ever forget the wonderful lady who baked my wedding cake way back in 1965? I have thought of your Mom several times. She was a  person who was so talented and giving. When Ed & I visited your home on Greenwood Cresent many years ago, we never lelt without receiving some of her delicious cookies or cakes and what a fantastic cook she was.How lucky we are to have such beautiful memories of a lovely lady. Well, Mrs. Butler?  I always loved you.  You and I had something very profound in common.   We both loved my sister, Kim, dearly.  Now, when I consider the definition of a lifelong friend, my inkling is to contact Wikipedia and have your name and photograph linked to that definition.  You were the epitome of what it meant to be a lifelong friend.  You understood connection in a way that perhaps is forgotten in today's society.  I will always remember your loving spirit, your selflessness, and particularly, your wisdom in recognizing beauty.  Ya had some set of eyes on ya, my Dear.

Mrs Bulter was like a grandmother to me. I called her "Nan Bulter" or Nanny. I have such great memories of her teaching me and my sisters how to bake. I was the "baby" of the famiy and she made sure I was taken care of. She was a great women and my memories of her impacted my life greatly.I learned how to bake bread , bake cookies and knit with her. Those where great times in Newfoundland. I was so happy when she moved to ontario and was able to come to my Wedding and meet my Daughter. She will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm so sad to hear of her passing. I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Butler's passing.  I referred to her as a Nanny as that is how I felt about her.  She was an amazing lady and I feel very blessed to have known her and she taught me so much in my childhood years.  I still remember how amazing she looked at her 90th birthday. Mrs. Butler was such a wonderful lady.  We called her "Nanny Butler" and she would often look after myself and my two sisters when we were kids in St. John's.  She always baked while she stayed with us.  She would never let me sit on the cold concrete step outside without a cushion..:)  I was lucky enough to see her a few times since to moved to Ontario also.  My thoughts are with her family.  Such a special lady. xo
