His family will sorely miss his free, adventurous spirit; Rae lived life to the fullest with great enthusiasm. Devoted to his family, Rae leaves to mourn his son Patrick (Kathryn) and their children Lucy and Luca, son Jeffrey (Danielle) and their twin sons Elliot and Ronan, brothers Randy and Chris, and their families, and the family of his late brother Tim. All the members of Kathy’s family know we have lost a beloved brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Until his retirement, Rae worked as a mechanic at Honda dealerships assisting and advising customers and developing friendships along the way. He was always available to give advice and a helping hand to anyone who asked. His garage was always housing vehicles that needed his expertise, his own that he was restoring, and family’s that needed fixing. The dream he and Kathy shared was to one day own a Lotus and that happened this year to Rae’s great delight. Cars made up only a fraction of the interests Rae had. He loved to work with his hands and was always busy with a project; woodworking, gardening, stained glass creations. He loved outdoor adventures like camping, travels, music, and he most enjoyed sharing those adventures with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, race cars, vinyl records, birdwatching (and training the birds to sit on our heads), canoeing, skiing, water gun fights, thin crust pizza, and more. Anyone who knew Rae is deeply saddened that he is gone; but we all know that he is with his beloved Kathy after 18 years of missing her. We hope there is a fast lane in heaven for their Lotus. Cremation has taken place. The family has held a private Memorial Service for Rae, and will celebrate his life with a larger gathering of family and friends when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
