Mr. Richard Ernest Hatch

Beloved husband, best friend, and high school sweetheart to Linda (nee Downie). Married July 24, 1972 for 50 amazing years full of love, laughs and wonderful memories. “I lost my husband, my best friend, and the man I have loved since I was 16. He was my heart and I know no one on earth could have loved each other more than we did. He was a wonderful man and will live in my heart forever. Rest in peace my love.”

Predeceased by his parents Stanley and Alice. Cherished Godfather to William and Victoria (Matthew) and special Grandpa Rick to Charlotte. Brother to David (Frances) and Uncle to Cindy (Garith), Chrissy (Pat) and David. Predeceased by his sister Patricia and Brother-in-law John. Uncle to Butch, Mary and Debbie. Brother-in-law to John and Uncle to Thomas and Allan (Angela). Uncle to many Great-nieces and Great-nephews.

Rick worked as a Manager at Forbes Motors for many years until his retirement in 2012. Rick loved working in the car industry.

Rick and Linda spent 11 wonderful winters in Florida. Rick loved golfing especially with his foursomes here and in Florida. He will be dearly missed by his many friends throughout Waterloo Region and at The Preserve in Punta Gorda, Florida.

The family would like to thank the staff at Grand River Hospital for the care and support they provided for Rick.

To honour Rick’s wishes Cremation has taken place and private internment will be held. Arrangements entrusted to the Barthel Funeral Home (519) 653-3251. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory.
