Willem Antonius van Beers passed away on February 28, 2026 at the age of 90. He was born in Bandung, Indonesia on September 6, 1935, and grew up in the Netherlands. He came to Canada in 1973 where he worked as a welder for the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local 128. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juliana Saartje Sylvia van Beers (neé Tahalea), and survived by his daughter, Engelita Widianti Martin (neé van Beers). Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., until the time of the service in the chapel, taking place at 4:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
