Dernière de sa génération, elle a été précédée dans la tombe par sa sœur, Sr. Marie-Sainte-Olympe, f.j. (Marguerite-Mai), ses frères, Dr. Lionel (feu May Kipp, Gatineau), Mgr Numa Pichette (Edmundston), l'hon. juge J.-Albert Pichette (feu Mary Ann Duncan et Liliane Lévesque, Edmundston), Dr. Louis-Philippe (feu Lily Briand & Germaine Sirois-Fournier, Edmundston).

Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil ses neveux et nièces : Robert Pichette (Moncton), Hélène Pichette (Jean Marier, Québec), Guy Pichette (Suzanne Béique, Granby, Qc), Jacques Pichette (Edmundston), Gilles Pichette (Antoinette Nowlan, Grand-Sault), Marguerite Pichette (Jean-Eudes Levesque, Fredericton), Jacqueline Pichette (Moncton), Françoise Pichette (Pierre Breton, Chambly, Qc), Jocelyne Pichette (Saint-Lambert, Qc), ainsi que de nombreux petits-neveux et petites-nièces et arrière petits-neveux et petites-nièces.

Elle étudia au couvent des Filles de Jésus à Dalhousie, N.-B., et elle poursuivit ses études chez les Ursulines de Québec. Elle obtint un diplôme d'infirmière de l'Hôpital Saint-François d'Assise, à Québec. Après avoir exercé sa profession au Nouveau-Brunswick dans les secteurs privés et publics, elle s'inscrivit à l'Université de Montréal qui lui décerna un certificat en hygiène publique en 1945. Madame Pichette œuvra durant 32 ans au Madawaska en qualité d'infirmière hygiéniste avant de prendre sa retraite à Campbellton en 1977. Elle était la dernière survivante des pionnières de la santé publique au Nouveau-Brunswick.

En décembre 2003, elle recevait l'Ordre du Nouveau-Brunswick en raison des 42 années pendant lesquelles elle s'est dévouée aux soins infirmiers et « pour son travail bénévole et ses nombreuses autres activités caritatives, auxquelles elle a consacré la majeure partie de sa vie. » La citation lors de son investiture dans l'Ordre du Nouveau-Brunswick souligne qu'elle « fut une source d'inspiration pour plusieurs générations d'infirmières de la santé publique de la région Madawaska-Victoria et dans l'ensemble du Nouveau-Brunswick. Elle a toujours mené une vie heureuse, consacrée au service communautaire. »

La famille aimerait de remercier le personnel du foyer de soins le Village et le personnel soignant de l'hôpital régional de Campbellton.

Très attachée au mouvement des Filles d'Isabelle, elle fit partie de l'organisme catholique pendant plus de 50 ans.

Les funérailles auront lieu en l'église Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, à Campbellton, le 9 décembre à 10h00. L'inhumation aura lieu dans le lot familial au cimetière de Campbellton.

Visites au Salon Funéraire Maher, 33 rue Lansdowne, Campbellton, vendredi de 19h00 à 21h00 et samedi matin de 9h00 jusqu'au départ pour les funérailles.

Mrs. Corinne Pichette, ONB, RN died in Campbellton on December 6th, 2017. Born in Campbellton, N.B., in 1912, she was the daughter of the late Joseph-Octave Pichette and of the late Marguerite Fallu.

The last of her generation, she was predeceased by a sister, Sister Marie-Sainte-Olympe, f.j. (Marguerite–Mai), and by her brothers: Dr. Lionel Pichette (May Kipp, Gatineau, QC), The Most Reverend Dr. Numa Pichette (Edmundston), Hon. Mr. Justice J. Albert Pichette (Mary Ann Duncan and Lilianne Lévesque, Edmundston) and Dr. Louis-Philippe Pichette (Edmundston).

She is survived by nephews and nieces: Hélène (Jean Marier, Quebec City), Jacques P. (Edmundston), Robert (Moncton), Guy (Suzanne Béique, Granby,Qc), Gilles (Antoinette Nowlan, Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac), Marguerite-Mai (Jean-Eudes Levesque, Fredericton), Françoise (Pierre Breton, Chambly, Qc), Jacqueline (Moncton), Jocelyne (St. Lambert, Qc), and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

She studied with the Filles de Jésus in Dalhousie, N.B. and with the Ursulines Nuns in Quebec City. She graduated in nursing from the Saint-François d’Assise hospital in Quebec City. After practicing as a nurse in the public and private sectors, she obtained in 1945 a diploma in Public Health Nursing from the Université de Montréal. She was the last of the four original pioneering public health nurses in New Brunswick having worked for 32 years in her profession in Madawaska County before retiring to Campbellton, in 1977.

In December 2003 she was awarded the Order of New Brunswick for having embodied “the true meaning of service. Always concerned for the welfare of others, she gave of her time and effort during her 42-year career in nursing, through her generosity and volunteer work and many other activities of a charitable nature to which she devoted much of her life.” The citation read at her investiture mentioned that she had been a source of inspiration for several generations of public health nurses in the Madawaska-Victoria area as well as in New Brunswick generally. She was an active and loyal member of the Daughters of Isabella for more than 50 years.

The family would like to thank the personnel at the Village Nursing Home and the caring personnel at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

The funeral mass will be held in the church of Our Lady of the Snows, in Campbellton, on December 9th at 10:00 am. Internment will be in the family plot in Campbellton.

Visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St., Campbellton, Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 and Saturday from 9:00 am until time of funeral.
