Doreen Silliker

Born on April 16, 1935 in Sillikers, she was the daughter of William Silliker and Florence Conroy.

Doreen moved to Campbellton after completing Teacher's College in 1954 and spent the next 38 years educating the young people of the area; long after her retirement, she would meet former students who always remembered her and some ended up looking after her in the hospital.

She leaves behind to mourn her daughter Fran (Stephen) Pond of Doaktown, her son Bill (Dana) Maltais of Tide Head, her sister Frances (Bill) Harris of Sevogle and her brothers Jim (Betty) Silliker of Red Bank, Jack (Laney) Silliker of Sillikers and Fred (Kathy) Silliker of Miramichi and the father of her children, Leonard Maltais. Also left behind are her grandsons, who she adored, Bradley (Selina) Pond of Doaktown and Ellis Pond of Doaktown and one precious great-grandson Hudson Pond of Doaktown.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street, Campbellton. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 8 at 11 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 43 Andrew Street, Campbellton.

Pall bearers will be her nephews Billy Silliker, Dax Silliker, Warren Silliker, Eugene Harris and Orland Harris and her grandson Ellis Pond. Honorary pall bearers will be nephews Michael Silliker, Derrick Silliker, Travis Harris; her nieces Ellen Shaddick, Shelley Tucker, Cara Silliker and Ashley Silliker and her grandson Bradley Pond.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Campbellton.
