

It is with Great sadness to announce the death of Gerald Joseph Dedam at the age of 67 years old.
He was a resident of Listuguj, Quebec. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12th, 2015, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst, NB. He was born in Listuguj, Quebec on November 6, 1947.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda (Gilbert) Dedam, his three sons Gerald "Jerry" (Johanne) Dedam, Christopher Dedam, Joshua Dedam and daughter Lisa Anne (David) Beaulieu. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mark Beaulieu, Amanda Elizabeth Beaulieu, Laura Dedam, Adele Dedam, Joshua Dedam Jr., Jordyn Dedam, and Kieran Dedam and his Great-Grand Children Nautica Annemarie Beaulieu and Natalie Rose Smith.
He is survived by brothers Terry Isaac (Bernadette), Kenneth Isaac (Adrienne), Roger Dedam, Alfred Dedam (Evelyn), Sheldon Dedam and his sister Lillian Dedam (Joey) ; He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Joseph Wilfred Dedam and the late Elizabeth Isaac. He is predeceased by his sister Flora Dedam Barnaby. He is also predeceased by his grandchildren Stephen Michael Beaulieu and Joseph Stephen "Little Joe" Beaulieu.
Gerald lived an amazing life and was a dedicated husband and was married to his loving wife Linda for 48 years. Gerald began his career as a steel worker in Boston, Massachusetts and he was also an extremely gifted carpenter. He served as a Police Officer serving the community of Listuguj for many years. In his later years he formed the MicMac Historical Cultural Arts Society and worked to preserve and document the MicMac culture and heritage. He was also the President of the CFIC Radio station which has been serving the community of Listuguj and surrounding area for over 20 years. Gerald was a talented musician and enjoyed supporting and promoting local musicians. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Anne’s Church, Listuguj, Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
Visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton, Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm, as well as Wednesday from 1:00 pm until time of funeral at the Church.
