

Passed away at home on October 9th, 2016 at the age of 87, Mr. Howard Metallic of Listuguj, beloved husband of Mary (Bradstreet) Metallic. Born in Listuguj on May 4, 1929, son of the late Lawrence Metallic and the late Christianne Gideon.
In his former years, he was employed with a number of steelworking companies across the eastern parts of Canada and United States as a proud Iron Worker working on high steel structures. His later years included working in the woods as a logger for the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government and then upon his retirement at 65 years old, he became his own boss for the next eight years cutting, hauling and selling logs. As a child, he was surrounded by music and he was inspired by the sounds of his mother strumming the strings of her mandolin and the vocals of her songs. He found many years of enjoyment with playing guitar and writing his own songs and performing privately or publically with family, friends and the public. He was named as Listuguj’s Country Gentleman.
He is survived by his son, Carl Metallic of Listuguj; his stepsons, Brent Condo of Listuguj and Constable Stephen (Eustacia) Bradstreet of Shediac; daughters of Listuguj, Rosanne Martin, Karen Metallic, Christine Metallic of Listuguj, and Anita (Rob) Metallic of Montreal; stepdaughter, Jamie Metallic of Listuguj; sister, Mary Fraser of Bangor, Maine; his grandchildren, Edward (Will), Shawnee Ann (Mark), Lisa, Sheldon, Raven (Peter), Denver, Jacob, Fred, Chrissy, Shawn, Nicole, Sienna, Shoconi, Patrick, Sacheen, Samantha, Chase, Matthew, Dina, Anastacia, Alivia, Egian and LeAnna. Many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nephews, Great-Nieces, Great Grand-Nephews, Great Grand-Nieces. His daughter-in-law, Joanne Augustine of Metepenagiag Mi’kmaq Nation, NB and sister-in-law, Molly Bradstreet-Barnaby (Sam) of Listuguj. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Peggy Ann, two sons, Frank and Wayne, three brothers, Alexander, Daniel, and Patrick, three sisters, Bella, Stella, and Lucy. Predeceased were 10 other brothers and sisters who died at very young ages.
Funeral Service will be held at Maher’s Funeral Chapel, Campbellton, on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation at the Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St., Campbellton on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
