Kevin Charles Parker, passed away peacefully at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, on February 11th, 2026 at the young age of 58, surrounded by members of his family after a 3 year long battle with cancer.
He was born on January 16th, 1968 in Campbellton, was raised here, and returned to the place he loved after completing university.
He attended Dalhousie University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, followed by the University of New Brunswick where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering. He spent almost his entire career as a Professional Engineer at the AV Cell pulp mill in Atholville, where he has finally hung up his hard-hat as Vice-President of Manufacturing with the company, after 28 years of dedicated service with the organization. He truly loved what he did and even more so the people he had the honour of working with. He went to work every day knowing the pulp and paper industry is fragile, and did everything he could to make sure the mill would stay open for years to come.
He leaves behind his loving wife Kathy (Downs), his son Justin, his parents Mel and Nancy, his brother Stephen (Jill), niece Olivia, nephew Liam, Kathy’s parents Donald and Linda Downs, her brother, Donnie (Tanya) and niece Mariah, and his beloved dog Jax, as well as a large circle of friends both near and far.
From a young age he had a love for spending time on the Restigouche River, and eventually acquired a small non-descript cottage along the banks of the Restigouche that he called his “little piece of paradise”, where he and Kathy would spend 6 months of the year. As he got older, he became an avid player of Strat-O-Matic baseball, which he spent many days and nights rolling the dice with his friends. He loved his new-found hobby of ATV’ing, constantly tinkering with his side by side, and going on trips on the trail with Kathy.
He was a dedicated volunteer to the minor soccer program in Campbellton, where he was one of the founders of the Celtic Soccer Club, and was dedicated coach and member of the board for over 15 years.
The family would like to extend the deepest of thanks to the incredible team of dedicated healthcare professionals at the Campbellton Regional Hospital who were involved with his care over the last 3 years, with a special thanks to Dr. Al Habash (whom Kevin considered a friend), Isabelle Nadeau NP, and to Rachel Mann and [what Kevin referred to as] her “team of angels” in the Intensive Care Unit who provided better care for him then anyone could possibly imagine. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Finn, oncologist at the George Dumont Hospital in Moncton.
Kevin was a strong supporter of all things community, albeit often quietly. He was always one of the first in line for things like community suppers, bake sales, farmers markets, raffles, or the Lions Corn Booth.
Everyone who knew him knew he loved food, trying new dishes, cooking for others, and loved frequenting many of the local restaurants, Smoke On The Water and Pronto being two of his favorites.
A funeral mass for Kevin will be held on 2/20/2026 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Campbellton. There will be a reception following the service at the Tide Head Fire Hall, all are welcome.
As someone who loved to support his community, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local charitable organization, or to support a local small business in his honor.
