Lloyd R. Borden

Relatives and friends in Upsalquitch and surrounding communities were shocked and saddened by the passing away of Lloyd Raymond Borden, Saturday December 22, 2012 at the age of 73. He had been admitted to Campbellton Regional Hospital briefly and passed away while surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Upsalquitch May 3rd, 1939, he was the son of Bruce Borden and Lucy (McDavid). He lived in Upsalquitch all his life and for 20 years had been employed with the Provincial Department of Transportation from which he retired in 2000. Lloyd was an active member of St David's United Church in Upsalquitch, NB. He was well known and respected throughout the community. He was an avid gardener and shared the bounty of his summer's harvest with any and all. He enjoyed and appreciated the peacefulness and solitude of nature especially at his camp back on the hill.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 50 years, Charlotte (Jones) and his four daughters: Carla Weaver (Dana) of Irishtown NB, Thelma of Robinsonville NB, Lana Marie of Fredericton NB, and Stacey of Moncton NB.

Lloyd was a grandfather to Christopher and Alexander Babineau of Moncton NB, and Pierce and Caitlin Boudreau of Robinsonville NB.

He is survived by his brothers Alexander (Kelly) of Upsalquitch NB, Wayne (Kathy) of Robinsonville NB, Aubrey (Sandra) of Kelowna BC and his sisters Wanda Ackeral (Fred) of Glencoe NB, Marion of Upsalquitch NB, Kaltha Hoard (Lyle) of Prince George BC. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Bruce Borden and Lucy (McDavid) of Upsalquitch, brothers William and Wallace, and three infant siblings.

The service of celebration and remembrance for the life of Lloyd was held December 24th at Maher's Funeral Chapel in Campbellton, NB. Rev. Jim Postlethwaite officiated the service. The organist was Ruth Nicol. Interment will be at a later date in the Upsalquitch Cemetery.

He was a kind and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was loved and respected and will be greatly missed.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Campbellton.
