Ralph was born on November 27, 1934, in Dalhousie, NB, to the late Andrew LeClair and the late Blanche Savoie.
Ralph worked for Woodlands at the port of Dalhousie from 1952 until his retirement in 1992, holding the title of captain for a variety of company tugboats. Ralph loved to spend quality time with family, sharing laughter and creating cherished memories with camping, fishing trips, picnics, nature walks, family baseball and volleyball games, Sunday drives, movie nights, and more. Throughout the years, the LeClair household signified an inviting and safe space for his children and grandchildren to gather with school friends, always making sure guests felt comfortable. To many of them, Ralph and Simonne were like second family. His witty humor and easy-going nature allowed even strangers to feel comfortable, like part of the family. Ralph always had a knack for engaging in small talk. He always showed an interest in people’s lives and families, and he had an incredible memory to remember details shared. Even as his body began to fail physically over the last year, his mind remained sharp. Being a big fan of any sport his cherished children and grandchildren played—like hockey, baseball, soccer, and basketball—you could always count on him to be at the games. Even though his presence will be missed, knowing he is now with the love of his life, Simonne, brings great comfort to the family.
Ralph is survived by his children—Eric (Tricia) LeClair of Beaver Dam, NB, Carol (Mike) Murray of Nerepis, NB, and Tracy LeClair of St. Thomas, ON. He is also survived by his grandchildren—Ryan (Haley), Jonathan (Molly), Erika (Mackenzie), Sarah, Shae-Lynn (Mitchell), Tailee, and Taylum; great-grandchildren—Charlotte and Desmond; and siblings—Sister Jean, Bob, and Bill, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Bruce, Gladys, and Marielle.
In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
