

Donald was born May 1, 1942 to the late, Charles and Evelyn Smedley in Portsmouth, Ohio. In 1959, Donald enlisted in the United States Air Force. It was there he received his formal education. He served our country for four years.
In 1972 he married Matilda Bardi of Highland, NY. They shared 51 happy years together.
Don was kind and loving man who loved his family. He was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand, he also never met a stranger.
As said by his sister, Carol, “Donny was my best friend. He taught me so much. He taught me how to swim, fish, and even how to ride a bike. Even when he aggravated me he would smile and laugh, I could never stay upset for too long. He was my best bud and I love him dearly.
He was self-employed for a number of years before he relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1985. During this time he worked for TXU energy in the electrical field.
Don was an avid fisherman. He loved being on the lakes chasing Big Bass. He was also a member of the North Texas Bass Club for many years where he made many great friends.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Evelyn Smedley and his son, Joseph Smedley.
He is survived by his wife, Matilda Smedley; daughter, Victoria Smedley of New Paltz, NY; sisters, Carol Thompson of Dallas, TX and Debbie Goodman of Little Elm, TX; brothers, Dennis Smedley of Dallas, TX and Dane Smedley of Portalas, NM; and grandson, Joey Smedley of Bedford, TX.
