Born on December 28, 1936, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Marion Bicknell Cranor and Herbert Cranor, Jackie graduated from St. Joseph High School and earned a Business certificate from Platt College of Commerce. On June 13, 1958, she married John Lee Beers, her husband of 62 years.
Jackie had a rewarding career as a bookkeeper, with Omega Optical being her favorite workplace, where she forged lasting friendships. Known for her generosity, she knitted thousands of baby hats for Love Thy Baby, touching countless lives with her warmth and care.
A charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Jackie helped renovate the church building and was deeply involved in the church nursery, lovingly caring for babies during services and events. She was also an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Altar Guild, contributing to numerous church activities and attending retreats.
Nana’s favorite love was her family and all children. Her grandchildren were by far the greatest love and joy of her life. She never missed an opportunity to share her love and life with them. She is their forever angel.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marion Cranor, father, Herbert Cranor, sister, Phyllis Pafford, and husband, John Beers. Jackie is survived by her children, Janiece Abbott and Jon Beers, her grandchildren, Jacob Abbott, Jena Faye Abbott, Jessie Abbott, Charles Beers and Jonathan Beers, and her sister, Nancy Bloomfield.
A memorial service celebrating Jackie’s life will be held on June 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Metrocrest Funeral Home, 1820 Perry Road, Carrollton, Texas, followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.
