

Jerry Davis, age 78, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away November 9th, 2021. He was born October 1st, 1943 in Terrell, Texas to Ida Mae (Crawford) Davis and James Roy Davis. He attended Terrell High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964, serving most of that time on the destroyer USS Union. On August 1st, 1966 he married Barbara Kvapil, and later relocated to Mesquite, Texas. He worked as a warehouseman at several Dallas-area companies, but spent the majority of his time at Safeway and Roadway/Yellow Freight. He was an active member of Local 745 Teamsters Union of Dallas.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Roy and Ida Mae Davis of Terrell, Texas, his brother Freddie Davis, and sister Glena Pannell. He also is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann Davis; son Steve Davis of Flower Mound, Texas and his wife Shannon; daughter Tara Davis of Boston, Massachusetts, brother Jackie and his wife Carolyn, sisters, Joan Price and Shirley Butler; grandsons Tyler and Dillon Davis; sister-in-laws Michael Ann Davis and Sherry Kvapil, brother-in-laws Quincy Pannell and Tommy Kvapil; and numerous nieces, nephews, hunting, fishing, and archery buddies.
Jerry was incredibly passionate about bass fishing, archery, and quail hunting (he would also want mentioned that he is proceeded in death by his bird dogs Sam, Rusty, Ruby, Sue, and Maggie). “PawPaw Jerry” loved the outdoors, and has passed that love down to his son, daughter, and grandsons. He relished his memories of all his adventures, and especially having the opportunity to introduce his two grandsons to hunting and fishing, which affording him more time to spend with the two young men he loved so dearly. He often commented how fortunate he was to make lifelong friendships with his hunting buddies, as well as all of the far-ranging places we journeyed to along the way.
Jerry will always be remembered for his charisma, optimism, and his unwavering zest for life. He never met a stranger, and was frequently referred to as “one of a kind” or a “character” by friends who got to know him. We can assure you PawPaw Jerry you made your mark on us all and will never be forgotten.
