

Joni was born in Durant, Oklahoma on June 22,1942 to Oather and Ora Lee Smith of Mead, Oklahoma. She graduated from Durant High School and entered The United States Navy.
Joni was married to Walter Nason on September,22 1961 at Naval Air Station Quonset Point, Rhode Island. They were married 55 years until his passing.
Upon Honorable discharge from the Navy, she returned home and received a bachelor’s degree from The University of Plano using her GI Bill as a qualifying veteran.
Joni worked as a Purchasing Agent for many companies over the years including Texas Instruments in the late 60’s. She also worked for The City of McKinney and McKinney Chamber of Commerce in the early 70’s.
She was very involved with her church St. Stephens Anglican Catholic Church of Lucas, Texas and always looked forward to attending mass.
Joni is preceded in death by Walter Nason, Oather Biggs, Ora Lee Biggs, Pandora Norris and several other family members.
Joni is survived by Troy & Delia Nason, Sheree Espinosa, Jessica & Alex Sladechek, Derek Burchfield, Bobby Smith and other family, friends, and pets. Including Yusra, Midnight, Pepper, & Sugar
A Requiem Mass will be scheduled at St. Stephens Anglican Catholic Church TBD with Fr. Paul Andreasen officiating.
