Dear Grandpa, 
The words I have for you are nothing but good. You taught me and Kayla (and I’m sure many others) how to be loved and how to love others. You were always there no matter what. As a child we didn’t fully understand your love, but as we grew older we really started to SEE. For a man to teach his granddaughters that shows not only how much you love us, but also how we want to be loved. Whether it’s love in God, family, friendship, or relationships… YOU taught us what TRUE love feels like. Mom used to tell us how you would call her and say “hey I haven’t seen the girls in a while, when can I come by?” ….even though it had only been a short amount of time. No time could be replaced by that. 

You also taught us to enjoy every second of life. You were always so happy and young. I for one have tried to use that as an example in my life and to enjoy every single second of it no matter the situation. You were always a young soul trapped in an adult body. 

Thank your for not only showing us how to love, but also to enjoy life and not care what anyone else thinks as long as we were happy. 

I think I can speak for everyone when I say you were an AMAZING grandfather and I’m so happy and lucky that I got to share this much time with you in my life. 

Keep doing those leg exercises to keep them legs sexy! I’ll see you someday in the future soon. I LOVE YOU GRAMPS! 

Wow, where to start…Tio Georgie (as we knew him growing up) was like a second father to us. As a matter of fact, for several of our early years, when we all lived in the Bronx, NY, we saw Tio and his family as an extension of our own - and looking back, it seems rarely a day passed without our families crossing paths at some point. He and my father were like brothers, and there were at least two instances where he saved my life (Sito)…I guess I was a bit out of control at times!  Eventually he took a job in Kansas City with TWA and moved his family there. This left a big hole in our lives, but not for long, as our family soon followed.  
We lived with his family for a while as my parents searched for a house and neighborhood to raise us. Vivid in our memory are our first sunburns (ouch), as well as our introduction to Solarcaine, as we all spent a lot of time in the backyard pool. While living with them we also experienced our first July 4th fireworks, as well as our first jarfuls of “lightning bugs”.  Our familes also attended the same church, where our parents’ lives were changed when they accepted Jesus Christ as Savior - which set our family’s course on a totally different, and infinitely better, path. 
While members of Calvary Baptist Church, there are countless memories of he and our dad on the softball team, routinely hitting balls for homeruns into the cornfields of Lenexa, KS…and then sending us kids into those same cornfields to find the balls!
Over the years there have been countless meals, visits and discussions - we loved and trusted him, and knew he always had our best interests at heart. He was one of a kind - and anyone close to him knew he was a big kid at heart. 
We love and miss you Tio…BUT…we will see you again!

I have so many fun memories throughout my life of my dad.  But the last few years we played alot of Rummikube.  My favorite part was every time it was time to draw the 14 tiles, by his second tile he would start to get excited and yell "Junk, all I have is Junk" .  It made me laugh each time because he still had so many more to draw and I would say how do you have "junk" so quickly.

And if he knew Steve was coming over he would say all day that he was going to kick Steve's butt at Rummikube,  if you could see the look on his face when he didn't win, it was priceless!

My favorite memory of Mr. Aviles is he loved watching his High Chaparral. Always talking about his family, especially the grandkids and the great grandkids. He was over joyed about getting a great grandson and couldn’t wait to meet him. He was also very proud of his girls. He loved having his family together. I’m going to miss you dearly Mr. Jorge. I always had a good morning and a hug for him and Caratina both. Rest In Peace.

My favorite memory of my Grandpa Jorge is when he took my sister, Krista, and me to a water park. While we ran around and went on slides, he stayed at the kids' park area with the buckets that would fill up and eventually pour over. He told us we could go enjoy the park but to just check back in with him every once in a while. To this day, all I remember about that park is how everytime Krista and I went back to check in with him, he was in the same spot, under the same bucket with the same pleasant look on his face and above all was how excited he would become when the bucket poured over on his head. We sat and enjoyed the bucket with him a few times and I am very glad we did. Krista and I always laugh about that memory together because it was just so cute how content and happy he was under that bucket.   

A couple other things  I will never forget... 

How he would ask if his hair looked okay or would mention he was having a good hair day even though he was completely bald.

and 

When we would video chat through Alexa he would never say "Alexa hang-up", instead it was always "Alexa go home" 


Grandpa Jorge was an amazing grandfather that always wanted to see his family and be involved in their lives. He was an amazing man to all of us and will be missed greatly. 

You know our story. Here is a picture to share.

Jorge has been part of my life since 1957 when we met and became friends. He went on to the Navy and I to the Army. After several years we reconnected. He visited us in Puerto Rico. When Cecy and I moved to Houston, Texas, in 1986 Jorge was instrumental to us moving to Deer Park. Jorge was a loving dad, nephew and husband. Dona Maria and dona Calla were endearing and we have great memories of them. Caritina came to his life and ours.  We enjoyed our trips to Galveston, boating in Clear Lake area and many others. Our son Timmy has great memories and love for Jorge and Cari, whom he has known since he was 6. You both mean the world to Timmy and Sonja. You are in our hearts, in Cecy's parents' heart in heaven and in both our family's hearts. This was a life well lived and we know Jorge is with Jesus, enjoying what is promised to all who have honored Our Heavenly Father.  No goodbyes, because we will meet again.
