Larry Wayne Thompson died peacefully at the age of 72 in Dallas, Texas after suffering health issues for the past year. Larry was born on January 18, 1951, in Deridder, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his husband of 33 years Michael Keyser, parents, Willar Mae and Arbon and brother, James. He is survived by his loving and devoted partner of six years, Robert (Robbie) Wood, his sister Eileen and many family members.
Larry retired at the age of 62 after a successful management career with Southwestern Bell (AT&T).
For the next decade, Larry volunteered and devoted his daily life to those less fortunate. Larry was an incredible chef and loved cooking, not only for his friends and family on holidays, but also for those experiencing food insecurities and the homeless.
Chef Larry unselfishly prepared and served thousands of meals to our food insecure community with various non-profit organizations at Cathedral of Hope, Oak Lawn Methodist Church, and the Resource Center. In fact, the Resource Center recognized Larry as their 2020 Volunteer of the Year for his time and enormous commitment to their mission.
Larry was in and out of the hospital the last year of his life and his partner Robbie was his greatest advocate and caretaker during his lengthy illness. Larry has many family members and friends he leaves behind that loved him so dearly and will miss his beautiful spirit. He gave so much to so many with his generosity, his love of cooking, his witty sense of humor and overall devotion to the causes that meant so much to him.
Larry, it is your time. Rest in peace sweet soul. God welcomes you to his kingdom of heaven. You have served him well, good, and faithful servant.
