Mildred was born on September 29, 1927 to her loving parents, Herbert “Tobe” and Helen Ingram McFarland in Oklahoma City, OK.
Shortly after graduating high school Mildred married the love of her life, David Michael and they settled in Houston, Texas. Together they raised two children, Nancy K. Michael Cardenas and Robert Michael.
Mildred enjoyed taking care of her family especially. After her youngest child graduated she begin working as a secretary for Great Southern Insurance Company. She and David also had ownership in a chain of Monterey House Restaurants and she also served Creekview School for over 10 years, working in their cafeteria.
After David passed away, Mildred continued living in the house they had together. Well in her 90’s, Mildred took care of her home and was known to be very independent. You could often find her do her own yard work and much more around the house. She also enjoyed quilting in her spare time.
Mildred was a loving and caring daughter, sister, mother and great-grandmother. She cared for her daughter and husband as they battled through their illnesses. Her family was her greatest joy and she expressed that through her loving and caring nature.
Mildred was predeceased by her, parents, Herbert and Helen McFarland; husband, David Michael; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy K and Enrique Cardenas; grandson, Daniel Cardenas; brother, Herbert Ray McFarland and sister, Naomi Ruth Lackey.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Robert Arthur Michael; grandchildren, Jeff Cardenas, Kyle Michael (Marissa), Drew Michael (Carrie) and Chris Michael; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Charlotte, Alexa, and Maren; and her sister, Peggy Berry.
A visitation is scheduled Friday, February 10, 2023 from 7 PM – 9 PM at Metrocrest Funeral Home, 1810 N. Perry Rd. Carrollton, Texas 75006
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3926 Old Denton Rd, Carrollton, Texas 75007 at 11:15 AM.
