

Neil Cyrus, age 61, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the VA hospital in Dallas, TX. He was born on May 30, 1958 in Dearborn, Michigan. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his mom, dad, and 8 brothers and sisters. He graduated from Kettle Moraine High School in 1976. He was an all-star wrestler and made it to state his senior year. He went on to complete two years of college at The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Neil then received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1981 from Marquette University in Wisconsin. Neil went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Bazzell, and forwarded his career as an Officer in the U.S. Navy. His last tour was in 1985 when he left the military with an honorable discharge as a Lieutenant JG in Corpus Christi, TX. He then moved to Irving, TX where he made his home of 28 years. Neil is joined in heaven by his parents, Richard and Delores Cyrus, and his two brothers, Christopher Cyrus and Michael Cyrus. He has left behind four children; one son, Nicholas Cyrus and three daughters, Angela Cyrus, Amy Morado, and Amanda Cyrus, and six siblings; three brothers, Richard Cyrus, Glenn Cyrus and Stephen Berger, and three sisters, Jeanne DiPilato, Cindy Geboy, and Beth Geboy-Schmidt. Neil was a beloved father, brother and great friend to many. He has touched so many people with his sense of humor and welcoming heart. He was the most giving man, and always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. Neil fought so hard as he was the strongest man with the most courage to make it through the challenges he faced. He gave so many people hope and strength throughout his life. Neil loved the game of golf and was always a big fan of trivia. Anyone who knew him was aware of his passion in politics. This is not a goodbye but a see you later. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Neil touched many lives throughout the years. We welcome all to his celebration of life on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the following address 2122 Springwood Carrollton, TX 75006. Adult only celebration to follow. Please bring any pictures and stories to share. We will be commemorating with an open mic and memory board and look forward reminiscing on all of the great memories!
