With heavy hearts but grateful spirits, we announce the passing of Randy Pat Willis, who departed this world on July 12, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on May 17, 1951, to Kenneth and Dorothy Willis, Randy grew up surrounded by the love and laughter of a large, close-knit family. He was the second oldest of five siblings, with his big brother Mike being the eldest, followed by brothers Danny and Terry, and his beloved little sister, Gina Story. His roots were strong, and his devotion to family only deepened with time.
Randy’s love story began early and beautifully. At just nine years old, he met Sherry, the girl who would become the love of his life, through the Barbershop Quartets their fathers sang in together. Their connection blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were married in November of 1969. Together, Randy and Sherry built a life grounded in love, laughter, and shared dreams, raising three wonderful children: Kelly, Tammi, and Kevin.
In his teen years, Randy helped “Pop” Willis at Willis Boat Works in Dallas, located just across the street from the State Fair of Texas, until Pop passed away in December of 1970. During fair season, and football games at the Cotton Bowl, he and his brother Danny picked up extra work parking cars — a job that gave them both stories to tell for years to come and reflected Randy’s early work ethic and drive.
A hardworking and resourceful man, Randy wore many hats throughout his career. He spent time with the phone company and managed a Phillips 66 station alongside Sherry, where his dedication to service was evident every day. Later, he and his brother Terry moved their automotive shop from the Phillips 66 location to Rowlett, where they continued working side by side doing what they loved. Randy’s deep knowledge and skill with mechanics eventually led him to manage a Speedee Oil Change & Tune-Up for nearly 20 years. His regular customers, many of whom became friends, brought him immense joy and pride throughout the years. No matter the job, Randy brought integrity, humor, and a can-do spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Randy had a heart as big as Texas and a passion to match — especially for his Dallas Cowboys. A loyal fan through every high and low, he never missed a game and never missed a chance to cheer them on with gusto. His enthusiasm was contagious, and football season just won’t be the same without him.
To know Randy was to know kindness, dedication, and a quick wit that could brighten the darkest day. He was a storyteller, a hard worker, a loyal friend, a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished brother, and a man who left the world better than he found it.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in every story shared, every Cowboy touchdown cheered, and in the hearts of his family forever.
Randy was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Willis, his mother Dorothy Willis, and his beloved wife Sherry Willis.
He is survived by his siblings: Mike Willis, Danny Willis, Terry Willis, and Gina Story; his children: son Kelly Willis and his wife Nancy Willis, daughter Tammi Willis, and son
Kevin Willis; his granddaughter Kristen Wilson and her husband Doug Wilson; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Luca Wilson and Shiloh Wilson.
There will be a Dallas Cowboys themed celebration of life on July 19th for family and close friends to come together and remember Randy. Please contact Tammi at 972-333-8900 for address information.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund in Central Texas, the American Cancer Society, or any local charity in Randy's memory.
