William Herman Benson

Born July 12, 1940, in Wichita Falls, TX, he was the son of late Wilson and Vesta Benson.

Bill graduated from Irving High School and North TX State University where he was a member of Theta Chi. While President of Benson Insurance Agency in Irving he served as President of Irving Chamber of Commerce, Irving Traffic Safety Commission, Irving Rotary Club, Irving Assoc of Insurance Agents, St. Paul Insurance Company Advisory Panel, Chairman of the Board for the Irving YMCA, Director for Interfirst Bank-Irving, elected to serve on the Irving ISD Board of Trustees, served on the Helping Hand Development Board of Trustees, Irving Community Hospital Advisory Board Director, Slower Learners Center Board of Directors, Texas Independent Insurance Agents Association Legislative Committee, After retiring he opened Benson Insurance Services in Carrollton, TX and was an Addison Rotary Club member.

He was deeply caring, generous and kind.

Bill was preceded in death by his brother Jim and grandson, Jaxon Shea. He will be forever remembered by his wife, best friend and soulmate Sandra, treasured children Brad Benson, George Shea, Jennifer Harness, Kimberly Redding and their spouses along with 7 loving grandchildren, sister Pat Adams, extended family, dear friends and his beloved sidekick Bogey.

A special thank you to Kala Washington, Bill’s hospice aide, who was loved by Bill and family for her extremely compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 8th at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Grace Chapel, 185 S. White’s Chapel Blvd., Southlake, TX 76092, Rev. Sterling Smith officiating.
