AK-CHIN - Gilbert Lawrence Joaquin, 53, died on July 19, 2018.Mr. Joaquin was born in Sacaton and was a son of Richard Joaquin Sr. and Rosemary Miguel-Chiago. He was a supervisor for Ak-Chin Indian Community Farms and was employed with the farms for over 30 years. He also served on the Ak-Chin Farms Board.During his free time he loved to hang out with his family and friends. He also loved watching his Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Cardinals. He was a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those he loved and always thought of others before himself. He is survived by his companion, Lucinda Allen; a stepson, Rando Pablo; his father; four siblings, Phillip Joaquin, Georgia Corella, Dorissa Garcia and Richard Joaquin Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother; his stepmother, Dora Jane Joaquin; and his younger sister, Sharisa Joaquin.Wake on Thursday, July 26, with funeral Mass celebrated at 6 p.m. at San Juan Church.
