In his early years, Gilbert was known for his love of sports, participating in both baseball and football. He was passionate about music as well, serving as a Waila musician and contributing to various bands that brought joy to his community. Gilbert also enjoyed spending time watching/listening to television.
Gilbert is survived by his parents, Luke and Nina Jose; four siblings, Arlene Wood, Isaac Jose, Martin Jose, and Christie Jose; and two granddaughters, Anastasia and Charisma Jose, nieces, nephews and Godchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Anthony Jose.
An all-night wake will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at St. Ignatius Church in North Komelik, funeral Mass at 7:00 p.m. His burial will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at North Komelik Cemetery at 5:00 a.m.
