SANTA ROSA VILLAGE - Jose Mark Wood, 75, of Santa Rosa died on Sept. 23, 2017, at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson.Mr. Wood was born on Feb. 26, 1942, in Santa Rosa to Buster and Lolisa (Frank) Wood. He was a traditional singer, read all kinds of books and enjoyed watching TV. He was known for making rattles out of gourds.He coached softball when his sisters were younger and played in a band with his brother Alfred and friends. He would say to his family, "I'm a simple man." He was a security guard for Bureau of Indian Affairs schools before retiring.Survivors include two sons, Jason and Terence Wood of Santa Rosa; a daughter, Andreana Wood of Santa Rosa; a sister, Juanita R. Carlos of Santa Rosa; three brothers, Evan J., Leslie C. and Delbert S. Wood, all of Santa Rosa; his mother, of Santa Rosa; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa; a daughter, Cherylmarie Ramon; his father; and five brothers and sisters, Jose Steve Wood, Alfred J. Wood, Mary E. Moristo, Louie and Josephine Wood.Funeral Mass celebrated at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Mission, with wake following there.
