

She later met and married John Sauter and together, they spent 44 years raising their four children and enjoying life.
She loved attending their 4-H and school sporting events in their younger years. She kept busy with her flowers, gardening, bird watching, outdoor Christmas decorating, caring for the farm animals and spending time with her family. No week was complete without attending Peace Lutheran Church or going to Starbucks or Market Street Bakery to visit with family and friends.
Maria (Oma) was known for her infectious smile and sense of humor. She loved life, her American flag and all her friends. Maria wanted to say thank you to all her friends and family for helping her to have such a joyful life. She had a long and fulfilling life except for her battle with cancer and Parkinson Disease.
Maria is survived by her husband of 44 years, John; sons, Pat Sauter (Shannon), James Sauter and Jason Sauter (Jessica Rasner); daughter, Kimberly (Frank) Besaw; 10 grandchildren, John, Michelle, Ryan, Tyler and Wyatt Sauter, Madison, Andrew and Jaksen Besaw and Abby and Chloe Rasner; three great-grandchildren, Henry, Axtyn and baby sister Sauter; and numerous relatives in Germany.
She was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Martin Pohl; and son, Norman Smith.
Viewing is at Sticklin Funeral Chapel Friday Aug. 7, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Service is Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 2071 Bishop Rd., Chehalis, WA 98532, with graveside service immediately following. There will be a celebration of life gathering at the family farm following the services. All friends and family are invited to attend.
