Carl (Bouze) Conrad Ulrich passed away at the age of 91 on Sept. 25, 2021. Born Feb. 23, 1930, in Menlo near Raymond in Pacific County, Washington, Carl was the only child of Swiss immigrants Clem and Mary Ulrich (Huber) Carl graduated Willapa Valley High School in 1947 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force the same year. Carl was honorably discharged in 1950 and became a woodsman. Carl met the love of his life, Alice (Schuler), at a Swiss wedding in Centralia, Washington, and they married June 26, 1954.
The two started a dairy farm in Lebam, Washington, in 1954 and moved their dairy to Chehalis, Washington, in 1967. Carl took great pride in his farm. Carl loved the woods, hunting and always had binoculars within reach. He enjoyed storytelling and visiting with people, friends and neighbors. Carl’s kitchen table (the nucleus) welcomed all walks of life and was a constant source of vibrant discussions. Carl was involved in the Lewis-Pacific Swiss Society and the Tacoma Men’s Swiss Society.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Alice, of 67 years, two children, Albert and Catherine, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
