

Dorothy L. Chapman passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Saturday 3/17/2012. Dorothy was born in Richmond, CA on 2/8/1919 to Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Fields. She was educated in California and moved to Seattle, WA to join the US Cadet Nurses Corp during World War II. She met and then married her husband Dillard Chapman on February 10, 1945. After assisting Dillard with his construction business in Seattle for 30 years, they moved to Centralia in 1986 to be closer to family.
Dorothy was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, participating in the Legion of Mary and Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed volunteering with her grandchildren’s Boy and Girl Scouting activities. She was a wonderful storyteller and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Dillard Chapman, and her siblings Velma Branigan and Arthur Fields. She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws Joyce and Ken Perko, and Marilyn and Ted Dauer. She is the proud grandmother to Michelle & Richard Geraghty, Rob & Elizabeth Perko, Sheri and Jeremy Scott, Kristi Perko, Linda & Kris Kraft , and Cindy Dauer. She always enjoyed her great grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Anna, Luke, Mia, and expected great grandson Cole. Many special friends have also touched her life including Esther Haubrick and Emily & Chris Pfaff.
A Mass celebration is scheduled at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday 3/23/12 at 11 am. A rosary will precede the Mass. An internment will follow at Acacia Memorial Park Mausoleum in Seattle, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
