Beth was born January 13, 1961 to Mary and Warren Boone in Mount Vernon, Wash. She was the eldest of four and the glue that kept her family together since the passing of their parents.
Beth graduated from Centralia High School in 1979. She had a passion for service that began with a short stint in the US Army and moved into public service via the Police Reserve. That passion showed itself primarily, however, in twenty-seven years as one of Lewis County’s 911 dispatchers. Beth took great pride in being on the front line during emergencies in our county. She handled the pressure with courteous professionalism and an ability to keep the caller calm and focused. She had many friends who served alongside her helping keep our county safe. She will be missed by them all.
Beth’s career was filled with much excitement. Her friend Barb Glen shared that Beth loved working with maps and helping people who were lost or searchers who were trying to find them. She was very good at this part of the job. Barb also shared that Beth was especially great to work with during a crisis. She had a way of talking calmly, particularly with suicidal subjects. She really loved the pace and excitement that came with the job!
After 27 years, Beth took medical retirement from 911, but her working years were not over. She found a new job at Lucky Eagle Casino as a cashier. She loved this totally different type of work. No longer did she take home the emotional baggage that comes with living every day in crisis mode. Instead, she got to go to work, see lots of people, and gab… and Beth was the best gabber in the world! At the casino, she was preparing to go to “dealer school” to learn how to deal craps. Wouldn’t that have been fun to see?
Beth’s proudest accomplishment was her children. Robert was her first born and her pride and joy! After her divorce, Beth spent the ensuing seven years raising Rob by herself (with help from the family, of course). They were an amazing duo! Beth helped coach his little league teams, encouraged his love of music, and loved especially their summer vacation trips with Mom and Dad in the motor home. In 1996 Beth remarried and was blessed with Mona. The two eventually grew to love each other fiercely! Mona came into Beth’s life as a preteen with all the sass and attitude you’d expect, but Beth was a firm mother and she gave Mona rules that helped her grow into a beautiful, caring soul. Unconditional love: that’s what Beth gave to both of her children. They knew their mom would always have their backs no matter what happened.
Christmas was her favorite time of year because it afforded a chance to bring out all of the family traditions. Her favorite was making Golden Crown with Rob and Mona. She taught them how to make bread from scratch and then create a delicious cinnamon pull-apart. She was so accomplished at this that hers became better than mom’s. Her house was always bedecked with nutcrackers, Santas, and many other gorgeous decorations… and she always kept everything up until after her birthday!
Beth is survived by her two children, Robert Lintott (Victoria Dohnal) of Washington, DC; and Mona Toma of Sweden; also her three siblings Molly Boone-Jones (Rocky) of Seattle; Michael Boone (Lora) of Centralia; and Trish Aust of Shelton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be donations to the Lewis County Search and Rescue Council.
The memorial service will be held at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 S Gold Street, Centralia on Saturday, January 20th at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Centralia.
