Our beloved Harold (Moe) was born in Minnesota in 1917, and passed away on March 9, 2013. He was a graduate of Watertown High School in South Dakota. Moe went to two years of college in Iowa before enlisting in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a navigator of B-24's, making runs over France, Germany, Italy and Northern Africa.
After the war, he returned to South Dakota and married Bernice Maxwell. In 1966, he moved his family to Chehalis, Wash., and went to work for the state highway department as an engineer. His retirement years were spent reading, watching TV and enjoying his family.
His children, Donald and Maida of Seattle, Patty and Jay Johnson of Centralia, Greg and Miyoko of Ocean, N.J., and six grandchildren survive Moe. Two brothers, Corky of Watertown, S.D., and Vernon of Winter Park, Fla., also survive him. Bernice, his wife of 61 years preceded him in death.
The family would like to thank Mike and Kim and all of the staff of Serenity Care for the compassionate care that he received at their home.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Sticklin Funeral Home. A family graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Our dad was a kind and gentle man who will truly be missed by his family and friends.
