

Leonard was born to Cecil and Leonora Gelder on December 6, 1951, in Grafton, North Dakota. He was a caring brother to eight siblings: Tim, Mike, Leland, Sheila, Gary, Cindy, Teri, and Jerry. Leonard graduated from W.F. West high school in Chehalis, WA in 1969 and went on to study at college. He was a dedicated employee, working for Wayne’s Photofinishing for three years, 20 years at Moduline Industries, and 20 years at Walmart until he retired.
Family was always Leonard’s biggest priority. He married the love of his life, Linda (McBroom) Gelder, and together they brought Caleb and Brianna into the world. Leonard always loved photography, and he had a special talent for nature and landscape photos. He was an avid sports fan, he especially loved the Mariners, the Huskies, and the Seahawks. Leonard was also a big NASCAR enthusiast. He was also a devoted member of the Capital Christian Center in Lacey, WA for many years.
Leonard was preceded in death by his father Cecil Gelder, his mother Leonora Gelder, and his brother Michael Gelder.
Leonard is survived by his aunt Nelda McDonald, his siblings Timothy Gelder, Leland Gelder, Sheila Gelder, Gary Gelder (Jody), Cindy Hansen (David), Teri Smith (Mike), and Jerry Gelder (Suzanne); his children Caleb Gelder (Gracia) and Brianna Gelder; his grandchildren Isaiah, Ava, and Dylan; his several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
There will be a memorial service at Sticklin Funeral Chapel on Saturday October 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sticklinsfuneralchapel.com for the Gelder family.
