

She was the youngest of 11 children. Ruby moved with her family through California, Colorado, and Utah to Morton, WA as her father followed jobs in various defense, mining, and construction industries.
Ruby started her own family in Morton and spent the remainder of her life in Lewis County. She was a licensed beautician and worked in that activity in both Morton and Centralia. Ruby always had a job, and in some cases two. Her work included mill work, food service, retail flower activity, bookkeeping, and assembly of diving equipment. In addition she was a licensed care giver. Endowed with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and strong faith in God, Ruby was willing to deal with any challenge that might confront her. In the end she continued to display the strength, courage, and grace that she deployed in her struggle with a hateful disease.
Ruby is survived by her husband John Alexander Jr., sisters Louise Ferkins, Mary Byrent, brother Thomas Muncy, and children Audrey Viars, Charles Viars, and Aaron Shelton. In addition she is survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
