“AKA Susie, Sue, Granny”
Susie Louise Schofield, 74, passed away Feb. 20, 2022 at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington, due to complications with Covid-19. She was born Jan. 17, 1948, to parents George and Leona Orr, at Lewis County General Hospital in Centralia, Washington.
Susie was raised out in the Little Hanaford Valley in Centralia, where she absolutely loved to be. Attending Logan School in Centralia, she met the love of her life, Mike Schofield, during the fourth grade. During high school, the two started dating and were inseparable. On Dec. 2, 1967, Mike and Sue married, recently celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary. Together, they welcomed two children into their lives, Jennifer in 1972 and Jeff in 1976. As a true lover of Hanaford Valley, Susie never left.
She attended Centralia College, and began her first career at Seafirst, which later became Bank of America. Susie made lifelong friends working at the bank among her coworkers and customers. It was a true testament to who she was, kind, caring and a friend to all. After 33 years, she retired from the banking industry. In 1994, she became the owner of Chehalis Mints Company, working the rest of her life. It was this job that gave her the opportunity to build a family business working alongside her children. Susie was able to help raise her grandkids and became very close to each of them.
She loved traveling with the family to Leavenworth, Washington, a couple times each year. Susie loved each season and everything that came with it. If the weather was nice, you could guarantee she was outside working in the yard gardening. Mike and Sue would cruise around town or take day trips taking in the world. She enjoyed going on adventures with the family, exploring abandon houses and properties, which the kids worried about her getting caught. You could often find Susie burning her burn pile outside many times a year, even if it was legal or not-she inherited this from her mom. She was confident, strong willed and independent. Susie was known to all as a family woman.
You could often find her attending any event for any of her children and grandchildren and was well know as a present, loving mom and granny to everyone.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents George and Leona Orr; brother Bill Orr; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy and Leroy Lovely.
Survivors include loving husband Mike Schofield; children Jennifer (Albert) Kassel and Jeff (Amy) Schofield; grandchildren Sadie (Keaton) Meek and Sawyer Kassel and Emma and Gracie Schofield; great-grandson Colter Meek; sister Patty (Bob) Siemers; brother Don (Jenny) Orr; sister-in-law Christine Orr; brother-in-law Kevin Eastman; aunt Jean Schoelkoplf; nieces and nephews Steve Orr, Tina (Dan) Reeder, Heather (Ryan) Weiher, Sara (Dan) Hess, Jessica (Bob) Harpeng, Ron Orr, Andy (Casey) Eastman, Matt Eastman, Steven (Jaimie) Eastman; as well as many other relatives and special friends.
