Mom was born in Saitama Japan to Saito Yoshizo and Kane. She spent part of her childhood in Manchuria, where her father was stationed with the Japanese Army. She was the eldest of the siblings, sister to Yoshinori, Yukuhiro and Kiyofumi.
Mom met our dad (Darrel “Skip” Streeter) in Japan. They were married for 55 years until his death in 2015. Mom to Sandy (Paul), Joanne and Rene (David). Being a Navy family, we lived in southern California and Yokosuka, Japan.
Mom was a fabulous cook of both Japanese and American cuisines. This led her to a 20-plus year career as a cook at St. Helen’s Hospital in Chehalis. A talented seamstress, she sewed most of our clothes.
Mom loved her cats and dogs. We had many through the years, but Peko-chan was her favorite.
Affectionately known as Baba to her grandchildren JD, Kelsey, Cody, Sydney, Billy, Isaac and Nick; she was always cooking or baking goodies for the kids. She was also an aunt to several nieces and nephews, and a friend to many.
Before Daddy passed, he worried that because he believed in the Christian God and she was Buddhist, they would not be reunited. She assured him that she’d find him.
There is no doubt they are together again.
We love and will miss her.
