Cecil Ray Drake, 78, of Cabarrus County, died December 18, 2012, at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. He was born on February 7, 1934 in Mecklenburg County to the late Lee Austin Drake Sr. and Beulah Mae Graham Drake. Cecil was a US Army veteran and served in the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his brothers, L.A. Drake, Jr., Wade Drake, James Drake, Robert Drake, Donald Drake and Herbert Drake; sisters, Virginia Drake Mahaffey, Pauline Drake Jones, Ruby Drake Shoemaker, and Sue Drake Donaldson; and a granddaughter, Christy Drake.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Drake; his children, Dottie, Ray, Julie, Freddie and Lee; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a sister, Becky Drake Bishop.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel at McEwen Funeral Service in Mint Hill, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
