

He graduated from Mineral Springs High School in 1952 and was drafted into the army. After serving in the military, Clifford graduated from Burton Institute in Charlotte, NC. He retired after 25 years of service from the Charlotte Police Department as the Range Master at Charlotte Police Academy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Ross; brothers, Curtis and Smith Ross; sisters, Dorothy Keziah and Velma Griffin.
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; daughters, Janet Spittle and husband Rick, Sherrie Ross; brothers, Ray Ross and wife Marion, Billy Ross and wife Gloria; many loving nieces and nephews; and special friends, Cathy Smith and Frank Kalian.
He loved to laugh and enjoyed playing jokes on everybody. He was a kind and loving man. The family gives many thanks to Erica and her team at Carrington Place for their excellent care for him the last 3 weeks.
Visitation will be held from six until seven o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 28th of January at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel. A funeral service will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 29th of January at Blair Road United Methodist Church with Pastor Lynn Upchurch and Associate Pastor Innocent Justice officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association of Charlotte.
