

Jack Pharr of Mint Hill passed away Sunday morning September 16, 2012. He was 94 years old. He was born in Belmont, MS October 23, 1917, one of eleven children. During his life he was part of the CCC program until finding work in North Carolina as a bus driver. During World War II he served his country in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater. Jack returned to NC and resumed his job as a driver for Queen City Trailways.
From there he became part of Travel Tours Inc. of Charlotte where he was both a tour operator and driver. Over the next 50 plus years he touched thousands of lives as he arranged travel programs to places around the globe. During his life he traveled to all 50 US states and walked on six continents. He loved to travel and to help others enjoy traveling.
In 1960, Jack moved his family to Mint Hill where his home is still today. Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Loretta, his son Rick and his wife Carol of Midland, his son Danny and his wife Virginia of Mint Hill, his daughter Connie Ensley and her husband Keith of Mint Hill. He is also survived by his grandsons Kevin Huntley, Alex Ensley and Jarred Pharr as well as his great grandchildren Zac Huntley, Caleb Connell, and Hailey Pharr. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Daniel Jack Pharr.
Jack was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the local VFW as well as a Mason, Eastern Star and Shriner.
The family will receive friends on Thursday September 20 at 10:00am at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill. A service to commemorate his life will follow at the church at 11:00am. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens following the service.
