Martha, David was a "larger than life" personality.  He was so loving and caring to all of us.  His belly laugh made me feel so good!

Manda loves to tell the story of how he bought an ad for the Independence yearbook from her and even helped her get the words out, when she was nervous asking.  My favorite memory of him was when he sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water" as a close for a Sunday School.lesdon l taught on the beach one year.  He didn't skip a beat in agreeing to do that solo.  Such a wonderful man, loving husband and dedicated father.  He is remembered fondly and truly missed.

David and Martha for me are founding members of the village it takes to raise a child. For so many who had children at Hickory Grove UMC who grew up in the 70's and 80's,  he was a guiding ship that was at the front of the group, calm and steady, moving at a pace that kept the group together, and also was willing to stop and listen, never judging. The ship helped pull some back that had been drifting.

In all the adult Sunday school classes, kid's sports teams, youth groups and choir that I shared in with both David and Martha, he never lost his temper or made anyone feel they were less than whole.
They stayed in the present and were focused. David, by his presence, provided us a place to heal in our everyday life. 

I was so lucky to know his mother, Mrs . Bunn and Martha's dad, Rev Bruce. They were the kindest and most gentle people and you could see how David ,Martha ,Bryan and Travis came to be who they are.
I treasure all the memories and look forward to seeing my brother in Christ once again.

I’m so sorry to hear about Mr. Bunn. He was truly a favorite of mine while growing up in the church.   He could always make me smile and was so easy to be around. I always knew if I ever needed anything that Mr. and Mrs. Bunn would be there for me. I smile as I remember the pool parties, church beach  trips, both celebrations and tempers on the ball field/court.  I will forever cherish all  the wonderful memories and friendships I had as a teenager growing up at Hickory Grove Methodist. 

I hope in time the memories help heal your pain.  All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

We are so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. We have so many wonderful memories of  the Bunn family on the ball fields in Mint Hill and Independence High. Dave was always there to cheer on his boys and we always enjoyed chatting with you both during these games. These were the “good times” and the precious memories that we hold on to as we age. Martha, we pray for you during this difficult time and that your memories of the good times will help give you peace.

David had such a wonderful singing voice and mentored led his Tenor section and he was willing to tackle the most difficult solos.  I was lucky enough to harmonize with him sitting in front of him in the alto section.  My prayers and condolences for his sweet wife Martha(fellow alto) and his soncps and granddaughter.  


David was a good friend, team mate and a fine  Christian. People loved David for his warm personality and big smile. Martha our prayers go to you  and your family. I know you miss David but know he is in the presence of our Lord.

Carolyn and I have known David for over 50 years! We enjoyed many happy times with the Bunns with various church and neighborhood function over the years.  Carolyn and I and our children grew up with David, Martha, Bryan and Travis thru church, schools, athletics and just being friends!

We will surely miss David but are comforted to know that he is now dwelling with Jesus!

David and I were friends for about 45 years. We met at Hickory Grove Methodist Church where we became teammates on the HGM softball team and later on the Commercial Carpet team. He and Martha were church sponsors when my daughter was baptized. I could go on and on about the great memories with David and his family but to sum it all up, he was a special person to a lot of people and especially to me. Love you my brother and you will be missed. Love and prayers to Martha, Bryan, Travis, and the entire Bunn family. 

A light has truly left the earth to join the stars in Heaven. When I was singing with the choir at Hickory Grove, Martha and David were always the first to welcome me at rehearsal. I felt like they were family and always appreciated David’s smile and words of encouragement. Martha, hold on to the joy of having one of the best men I’ve known.  Well done, good and faithful servant!

We have known, loved and admired David Bunn for over 45 years.  David was a man of honor and integrity.  His beautiful singing voice and dedication to his family, friends and God will live on in my heart.  I know Jesus welcomed him to His Heavenly Choir with open arms.

My sincere sympathy in the loss of your Husband, Dad, Father-In-Love and Granddad,

I was blessed to have met David and Martha when Travis and Terri were engaged!  We became instant friends and I was so blessed!  They had raised a fine young man who was marrying my ‘Daughter’ by another Mother!!  We stayed in touch thru the years but not as much as I wished we had!  David was such a fine Christian man and so special!!  I know you will have a wonderful Guardian Angel now and he will be so missed, ‘Til we meet again!
