This picture was taken at my parents house, we were having surf and turf  for dinner. It was one of my  favorite memories. We all ate really well that night! Miss you❤️

I first met Mrs. Agrusa, when I went to high school with her daughter, Sally.

I spent many nights sleeping over at the Agrusa home, and began to refer to Mrs. Agrusa lovingly as Mama Agrusa.  She was always kind and caring, and we shared a bond over having the same name.  

 I have so many fond memories.  Her teaching me how to cook, going to see her at work (Woolworth), listening to old standards, etc.

I recall her voice would go up slightly anytime I would dye, cut my hair in strange styles or wear outrageous makeup; but it was never angry.  To me, she seemed to always be cheerful, and she was extremely accepting to this crazy little weirdo she had in her home.

When she moved out to Babylon, I would try to remember to call on her birthday.  It was March 19, Saint Joseph's day, which I always thought was special...because even though I wasn't her daughter...she always made me feel loved in her home.

Rest peacefully, Mama Agrusa.  Thank you for everything you did for me.  You truly left an impression on my heart.

On this day September 3 rd. Is both a very sad day but also a day that we will rejoice and celebrate. 
One -  because I believe that you are with so many people that you have loved and they welcomed you with open arms. 
Two -  that today is my moms,  your baby sisters Birthday and hopefully you are all up there having one heck of a party.
 We are so lucky to have had so many wonderful memories.  The Summer days at the beach. Where you and mom packed everything but the kitchen sink. The Sunday dinners at Nonna Rosalies. 
Even though you are no longer with us here on earth you will always be in our hearts. 
Now we have added one more angel in heaven to watch over our family.

There are a few things that will always bring a smile to my face when I think about my mom.  Movies, especially old musicals,  Frank Sinatra, and General Hospital.   I was around 9/10 when we moved to 72nd st.   Right across the street was a movie theater and if you walked up to 3rd avenue was a second theater and you would find us at one at least once a week.   I saw my first horror movies there - "Carrie" & "Alien" , love stories, dramas, comedies. It really didn't matter if it was even good just as long as we could get out and get away for a while.  Sunday mornings were also special.  She would put on her favorite radio station.  It played her favorite music.  Old tunes, show tunes, and especially Frank Sinatra. She would sit with her coffee , her stripped cover romance novel from Woolworth's and sing along.  Lastly  was General Hospital.  How many years had she been watching? Over 20 years?  She always gave me an update on the happenings in Port Charles.  It was the one thing I could always count on through the years as we talked on the phone.  I will miss those talks .  And today  I'll sing this to you as I say goodbye.

I remember so many  things like  grandma yelling at the TV when the Yankees played, doing puzzles on her dining room table, all the  holidays spent together as a family sitting around her table laughing and talking.  I remember talking to her for hours when interviewing her for a family history paper in college.  She was excited  to tell me stories about her life, she even found a flag signed by people in his unit from his days in the military  to show me. The special memories though were getting to celebrate a lot of my birthdays along side of her, it was one of the perks of our birthday’s being a day apart.  All those little things over the years grew to  mean so much to me and I’ll  cherish them always.  She was the glue that held the family together and she was pretty awesome. I love you Grams and I’ll never forget you.
