Elvie Hipps Sloope, age 94, a long-time resident of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Royal Park in Matthews, NC. Born May 1, 1926 in Kannapolis, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Hipps and Sarah Beaver Hipps.
She worked as a sales associate for Belk for over 30 years. Elvie treasured her cat collection, rings, music boxes, and Madame Alexander Dolls. She was a faithful member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at The Plaza, joining in 1958.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Perry Sloope; three sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her sons, Alan Sloope, Kim Sloope (Linda), David Sloope, and Jeffrey Sloope; grandchildren, Jamie Honeycutt (Cliff), Jennifer Sloope, Megan Singleton (Cody), and Evan Sloope; great grandchildren, Alston Honeycutt, Colson Honeycutt, and Brookelynn Honeycutt.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord. Pastor Emily Kuhn Hartner will be officiating.
