Emily Harris “Faye” Lawing, 65, of Matthews, passed on Tuesday morning at 7:30, when God brought a princess, a godly mother, and a godly wife into His presence in Heaven. Her work here was done. She left a legacy that few can match. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Faye was without a doubt the greatest woman I have ever known. She never complained, she put others first, and she rejoiced at others' accomplishments. She enjoyed gospel music, especially the Gaithers. Faye, I love you and I will forever cherish our 45 years of marriage. I have lost you to Heaven (and what a great thing that is), but I have not lost our memories. I will see you soon honey. Love, Mike.
The most godly woman I have ever had the pleasure of knowing went to Heaven on February 16, 2010 to rejoice with Jesus. This woman was an example of what following Jesus really means. This is not a funeral but a CELEBRATION of her life! You see, to examine her life you would be exposing Jesus because everyone saw Jesus in her! WOW! This woman was also my most precious mother! And her favorite saying was, "And this too shall pass.” Mom, you were right. You passed right into God's Heaven and your firstborn will always love you so very, very, very much! - Kevin.
I will never forget mom's ways, never selfish - I mean never! She always gave to us when she knew she would do without. She took her time to really make holidays special. Mom was a godly woman, no doubt. Mom, I will miss you forever and always love you. And I will see you soon. I love you and miss you! - Kris
The light that shined in my darkest hours; the gentle hand that soothed my soul's wounds; the one who has taught me patience, love and understanding. "Son, no matter what happens or where you are, you keep your eyes on God and He will carry you.” Mom, He has to be because I only see one set of footprints in the sand. - Kerry
Looking at her face was seeing the face of Jesus. She stayed in the Word of God. She showed me what a godly mother is. She's now rejoicing and dancing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you, Mom. Thank you for your love and wisdom. I know you have a crown full of jewels and I know you laid that crown at the feet of your Savior. - Katie
Faye is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Pierson Lawing; children , Michael "Kevin" Lawing, Kristopher Harris Lawing, Kerry Helms Lawing, and Katherine (Katie) Elizabeth McNabb; grandchildren, Grant Lawing, Courtney Powell, Jessica Powell; sisters, Sondra Mackey and her husband, Jim, Sharon Taylor and her husband, Bob, and Denise Krug and her husband Dave.
