Ernest Henry Thomas

His funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 30, at Mint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lee Proctor officiating. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born March 19, 1931 in Union County, NC, Mr. Thomas was a son of the late Henry Grady Thomas and Annie Mae Purser Thomas. He retired as a truck driver with Overnight Transportation Company after 36 years and was an avid gardener and farmer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Dennis “Polly” Thomas, and son, Rickey Ernest “Rick” Thomas.

Surviving are his daughter, Sandy Thomas Aycoth and husband, Benjie, of Indian Trail; daughter-in-law, Barbara Thomas of Mint Hill; brother, Edd Thomas and wife, Rachel; and sister, Louise Mullis, all of Fairview; grandchildren, Allison Aycoth, Kevin Thomas and wife, Elizabeth, and Brian “P-Nut” Thomas; great-granddaughters, Haylee Thomas, Allison Kepko, and Morgan Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
