Ervileen “Ervie” Tolbert Pridgen went to be with the Lord on July 27th, 2022. She was peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. At the time of her passing she was 93 years old and a longtime resident of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Ervie was born May 21th, 1929 in Richland County, South Carolina and was the youngest of 11 children. She moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in her early teenage years and met her husband, Christopher Jack Pridgen, Jr. when he returned home from the Navy after WWII. They married and had four sons.
She worked for Central Piedmont Community College for many years and in that time attended the school as a student and achieved her Associates Degree. In addition, she was an active member in her church, Midwood Baptist, as well as WMU and numerous other missions. She traveled the world spreading the Lord's gospel and had a huge impact on numerous lives. Ervie never met a stranger, showering everyone she met with love and kindness.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher Jack Pridgen, III and Thomas Meredith Pridgen; as well as her grandchildren, Cynthia Pridgen, Thomas Pridgen Jr, Ashley Pridgen, and Sara Pridgen. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death was husband, Christopher Jack Pridgen, Jr.; and sons, Anthony Wayne Pridgen, Carol Dean Pridgen; as well as daughter in-law, Mary Parker Pridgen.
Visitation will be held at Midwood Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, at 1PM, followed by a celebration of life at 2PM.
