Frances Freeman Kizer Mengel, 97, of Mint Hill, NC, passed away August 26, 2017 at Brian Center-Lincolnton. Frances was born November 30, 1920 in Indian Trail, NC to John Lee Freeman and Ella Rose Thompson. Frances was a school teacher and Sunday school teacher for many years. Her sweet personality was a blessing to anyone who met her. Her life is a testimony of a strong Christian woman.
Frances loved her family and friends so much. She wanted to make sure they would be with her in heaven. She prayed for direction as to how she might help them be saved. She said the Holy Spirit gave her insight and guidance as she created “The Four Gospels of Jesus Christ” into a book. Harrisburg Printing Press, NC, printed the book for her. Writing this book was her passion and she worked many long hours on it. The book not only blessed her family and friends, but has gone overseas, into jails, prisons, and some Christian bookstores. The Four Gospels of Jesus Christ helped people to better understand what all Jesus Christ has done for mankind. Many have repented and confessed Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord after reading her book.
God blessed Frances and her first husband, the late Rev. John D. Kizer, with three children: John Kizer and wife, Claudia of Holden Beach, NC, Don Kizer and wife, Theresa of Simpsonville, SC, and Donna Kizer Waite and husband, John of Charlotte, NC. After the death of her first husband, Frances married Lt. Col. John B. Mengel. She gained a step-son, Les Mengel and wife, Anna of Wellsboro, PA.
