

Mr. Brawley graduated from NC State with a degree in Agricultural Science. He worked as a Genetic Engineer for the American Breeders Service. He served his country in the United States Army. Frank owned his own trucking company and transported plants throughout the Southeastern US. He was an avid tractor puller from the 1970’s through the early 2000’s, and pulled throughout the Southeastern US. He won many state and regional championships and was highly respected by the pulling community. Mr. Brawley served as a several-time member of the Board of Directors of Hickory Grove/Robinson Volunteer Fire Department. Frank was a history buff, a walking encyclopedia, especially in reference to local history. He loved NASCAR racing.
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Lynda Burk Brawley.
He is survived by his children, Christopher Brawley Larson (Victoria) of Annapolis, MD, Matthew Norem (Dana) of Charlotte, Julia Norem (Steve Dzama) of Fayetteville, and Robert Norem (Carl Salisbury) of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Steven, Michael, and Brian Dzama of Fayetteville, Madison and Olivia Larson of Annapolis, MD; sisters, Ann Jones (Bobby) of Lexington, and Betty Whitlow (Rod) of Mint Hill; nephews, David Jones of Connecticut, Brian Whitlow of Monroe, Mark Whitlow of Columbia, SC and Jeff Whitlow of Fort Mill, SC; and many cousins.
A visitation will be held from six until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 21st of April, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
A funeral service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 22nd of April, 2016 at Robinson Presbyterian Church, 9424 Harrisburg Road, Charlotte, NC 28215 where he was a lifelong member. Interment will immediately follow in the church’s cemetery.
