

Born on January 6, 1944, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Gene was the son of the late Harold and Bernadette Abraham. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966.
Gene began his career at Geissler’s in Chippewa Falls and later worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. On June 17, 1972, he married the love of his life, Cheryl (Carlson) Abraham. Their journey together took them to St. Louis, Missouri, where Gene worked for McDonnell Douglas. He later relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, following the company, and eventually joined Bank of America, where he worked until his retirement.
A devoted husband, Gene lovingly cared for Cheryl until her passing in 2020. He was known for his honesty, loyalty, and gift for storytelling. A passionate sports fan, Gene especially loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers, often enjoying games with his close friend Dipen.
Gene is survived by his dear friends, Marcia and Tim Ray, Dipen Changela and his family of Charlotte; his sister, Carol (Terry) Benson of DeSoto, Wisconsin; his brother, John (Barb) Abraham of Chippewa Falls; sister-in-law, Gladys Tapia; brother-in-law, David (Lisa) Carlson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl; his parents, Harold and Bernadette; his siblings, Natalie “Toots” Siverling, Jim Abraham, and Nancy Abraham; and his in-laws, Janet Shreveport, Sharon Northrup, and Ken Carlson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Marcia and Tim Ray, Dipen Changela, Nurse Donna Rodgers, the staff at Waltonwood Providence at Waverly, and VIA Health Hospice Charlotte for their compassionate care and support.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 pm Monday, June 2, 2025, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, North Carolina, immediately followed by a catered reception.
