George Roland Martin, Jr., 55, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on September 11, 2021. Formerly of East Windsor, Connecticut, George was preceded in death by his father, George Roland Martin, Sr. and his sister, Marie Rose (Martin) Otero.
George enjoyed fixing things. Whether it be a leaf blower, a lawnmower, a motorcycle, a 4-wheeler, a car/truck, dozer, track hoe/backhoe, or dump truck he was always fixing something. He was a tinkerer at heart. He especially enjoyed his motorcycles – maintaining and riding them.
George loved to travel but his favorite place on Earth was the beach. He loved to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean and spoke of the event as a spiritual one.
George loved music and movies. He spent his evenings relaxing in his man-cave watching tv. George could quote movie lines from movies he hadn’t seen in years. And music! He felt music; he felt the lyrics! He could relate, sympathize, or at the very least empathize with the songwriter and I think this says a great deal about who George was – a kindhearted, tender, compassionate man.
George was always thinking about the future and talking about what he wanted to do next. Over the past couple months, he talked about learning to play the guitar, said he wished he had more free time to devote to such an endeavor. He talked about going to Bristol next summer to see the night races, taking a trip to Savannah, Georgia to visit a friend he made while visiting Myrtle Beach, and we have concert tickets for an upcoming country music concert.
George loved life, loved people, and looked forward to tomorrow.
He is survived by partner, Michell Mosher; children, daughter, Amber, her husband, and their three children, son, George, his wife and their four children, daughter, Laurie, her husband and their child, son, Nicholas Martin, son, Noah Martin, Michell’s daughter, Alayna Mosher and Michell’s son, Anthony Mosher. George also leaves behind his mother, Joan-ann (Christian) Morin; brother, Joseph Martin; stepfather, Dave Morin; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday, September 26, 2021, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, North Carolina.
